Welcome
Up Baptism, Weddings & Funerals Church Officials How to find us.. Regular Activities What is Christianity?

Hello, my name is Henry Le Ruez. I am the minister for Samares Methodist church  and I hope  you  will enjoy browsing around, which should help you get a feel of what we believe and stand for as a church.

We are not perfect people who think they have “arrived”, but we do trust in Jesus Christ as God’s Son who is real and alive today.  It is in a relationship with Him that we can know the truth of who God is and what He has for us now and in the future.  That’s key thinking in a world which is fast becoming more and more insecure, wherever you turn.  How long will my job last?  Is my marriage secure?  Will I be able to repay my mortgage?  Will there be a pension?  Or peace for my lifetime, let alone for my children?  The questions go on and on.

The Christian message provides no easy, glib answers.  It simply and honestly offers the invitation Jesus makes to you and I to allow Him into the centre of our being, to recreate and refashion us in His love.  It speaks of His amazing sacrifice on the cross so long ago, demonstrating that there are no ends to His love for the world.  It shows that in trusting Jesus Christ comes direction and purpose for the days ahead.

If you read the section on the history of Samares, you will see the recurring word “mission”.  The church has from its very beginning over one hundred years ago the sense of mission.  We are seeking to translate that into the 21st century with the desire that we worship God, and share His love with a purpose that is real for today.

What in particular are we aiming for in the life of this church?

WELCOME - so everyone feels they belong

FRIENDSHIP - because we are a family

WORSHIP - which is meaningful and brings us to a holy God

PRAYER - that makes a difference

GROWTH - in Christian discipleship

PASSION - to share God’s love in responsible ways

LOOKING OUT - to be informed about real needs in our community and the wider world so we can pray and give and serve to be part of God’s healing work around us.

I look forward to meeting you soon - and the coffee’s on us!
